Healthy Heart Diet Helps Reduce Stomach Fat
One nutrition professor from California Polythecnic State University Kari D. Pilolla claims there is one way to prevent and reduce stomach fat. A 'healthy heart' diet that is rich in fiber and low in saturated fat can be an effective way to reduce it.
Excess fat around the stomach, known as visceral fat, is often regarded as a silent killer and is associated with a number of health risks. This can contribute to the ongoing obesity epidemic.
"There is no magic diet, food, nutrition, or bioactive components that specifically target abdominal fat or belly fat," Piolla said. However, a hearty diet healthy or good for a heart that is rich in fiber and low in fat can be an effective way to reduce belly fat.
Excess fat around the abdomen or known as visceral fat is often seen as a silent killer. This fat is associated with a lot of disease risks and contributes to the now rampant obesity epidemic. "Weight gain, greater waist circumference increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and metabolic syndrome," Pilolla said, quoted from the Independent on Sunday (8/26).
There are so many methods of one trick that is said to reduce belly fat like drinking green tea, eating high protein foods, until the intermittent limit. However, Pilolla explained, these methods lack scientific evidence.
Instead, he advised many people to follow a diet that supports heart health. For example, a diet to stop hypertension or Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH). The diet usually consists of food in the form of grains, lean meat, fish, fruits, vegetables, and small amounts of dairy products. In addition, this diet is also important to be combined with regular exercise.
However, Pilolla research doesn't just get here. "Health and fitness must keep abreast of the latest and critical developments in research evidence published by colleagues," he said.
